Xavier Velasco studied political science and literature. He collaborated on the supplement Saturday and has bene published in various newspapers such as Novedades, El Universal, El Nacional, La Crónica, Milenio, Reforma and El País. In 2003, he received the Alfaguara Novel International Prize for his work Diablo Guardian, which became a bestselling Hispanic-American title with more than 200,000 copies sold.
