Motel Universe is the first of a series of graphic novels from Joakim Drescher, an artist Print Magazine says is "is carving a place for himself in the image world." He is the son of celebrated children's book author and illustrator, Henrik Drescher, and Joakim is now making his own name.
Hell on Earth, Drescher’s first graphic novel, was published by Terry Bleu. His comics have been published in Lumpen Magazine and AIGA’s Eye on Design. He has been interviewed by Ello, De: Formal and TDK. Drescher’s paintings and prints have been exhibited at Galerie Mikael Andersen and Printed Matter. His illustrations have appeared on Inlaid Ear and Cultura Collectiva. Joakim Drescher’s work was featured in Sketchbooks by Richard Brereton (Laurence King Publishing). Drescher was a resident at the Knust & AGA LAB, a speaker at the 2016 Post Design Festival and a featured guest of the Beast Crawl Literary Festival. He has performed both music and comics at STEIM.
A limited, two-color, Risograph printed edition of Motel Universe was produced by Terry Bleu. The full color Motel Universe is only available in this beautiful, hardcover edition. Joakim Drescher will tour North America and Europe in support of Motel Universe.
