Peroxides are characterized by the presence of the peroxo group -O-O-. The first synthesis of an organic peroxide happened back in 1858. Today, more than 65 organic peroxides in more than 100 formulations[liquid, solid, paste, powder, solution, dispersion] are produced in industrial quantities.
