Derek Pedley is a journalist with 22 years' experience and has won a variety of awards, including South Australia Young Journalist of the Year in 1996. In 1997, he became sub-editor, and over the next 15 years learned the dark art of daily news production, specialising in rewrites and headline writing. He is now a news editor at the Adelaide Advertiser, but crime writing remains his passion. Beyond the fast-paced daily news cycle, Pedley investigates intriguing criminals whose stories are not so easily told. He believes the best stories are the ones that are hardest to pin down.
