Dr. Meng is President of Hong Kong Society for Coloproctology, Honorary Treasurer of Hong Kong Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Vice-President of the Hong Kong Hernia Society. He is Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre and Endoscopy Centre of Drs. Anderson & Partners, Honorary Consultant of Matilda International Hospital, Hong Kong and also Honorary Hospital Chief Executive of Beijing St. Marco Hospital. After graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1989, he completed his training in Prince of Wales Hospital. He is also one of the first of surgeons to pass the Exit Fellowship Exam of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was promoted to Consultant Surgeon, Kwong Wah and Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital. His specialty training was in the Royal London Hospital, London with Professor Norman Williams, St. Mark's Hospital, London and National Cancer Centre, Tokyo. In 2006, he was awarded the prestigious G. B. Ong Travelling Scholarship. This allowed for advanced training in Colorectal Surgery and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery in Japan and Germany. Dr. Meng was awarded Fellowship of American College of Surgeons and acquired Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Jinan University, China. Dr. Meng is one of the first surgeons to perform Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery, Endoscopic thyroidectomy and adrenalectomy as well as hernia surgery in Hong Kong. He is also the leading figure in Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) in China. He pioneered Anorectal Physiology Laboratory with Transrectal Ultrasonography (TRUS) and applications of new techniques e.g. Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) and Single Port Assess (SPA) Surgery and Endoscopic Submucosal
Dissection (ESD).
He is experienced in pioneering Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endoscopy Centres. The very first "Endosuite" in Asia was installed in 2005 in Kwong Wah Hospital. In 2011, another cutting edge "Endolap Operation Room" was established in Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital. The Ambulatory Centre was also successfully established. Dr. Meng is keen in training and education. He is author to multiple papers, editor in peer-reviewed journals and multiple presentations in professional symposium. He has also been frequently interviewed by the media. He was awarded Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Meng is also council member of Eurasian Colorectal Technologies Association (ECTA) and Asia Pacific Federation of Coloproctology (APFCP). In mainland China, he was awarded as Visiting Professor of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, BEIJING and the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, GUANGZHOU; He is also the Honorary Professor of Tianjin University Hospital, TIANJIN and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, SHANGHAI. Dr. Meng is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
