An invitro study was conducted in the department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Shree Bankey Bihari Dental College, Ghaziabad, Delhi. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine on bond strength of self-etch adhesive on sound and demineralized dentin.60 freshly extracted human permanent maxillary and mandibular incisors were selected as specimens and were stored in 0.1% thymol solution till the time of use.A #4 round diamond bur was used to create grooves upto the depth of 1.5mm to expose the dentinal surfaces.Specimens were equally divided into 3 experimental groups and 1 control group.2 layers of adhesive system were applied on the dentin surface and light cured for 10 seconds.Transparent plastic tubes were placed perpendicular to bonded surface.Composite material was carefully inserted into plastic tube at increments of 2mm till the mold was completely filled. Samples in each group were sectioned with water cooled diamond saw bur perpendicular to adhesive tooth interface in mesiodistal direction to obtain 2 sticks and vertically aligned in self curing acrylic resin and finally stressed under Utm machine untill fracture.
