Clifford Hall was born and raised on Woods Island, Bay of Islands, on the West coast of Newfoundland. He remembers seeing the large black and white pcture of the S.S. Caribou, the passenger ferry that ran between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. The somber picture, depicting the captain and his two sons who lost their lives adorned the wall of every parlor in Newfoundland for years. Parents had little difficulty getting their playing children to come home as darkness grew near. "You youngsters had better get back home right away or the Germans will get you. They are around here and there's a war going on!"
He has lived in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for the past 20 years. He and his wife Ella are the proud parents of two children. His daughter, Sabrina, to whom this book is dedicated, passed away in January, 2021. His son Brian, is presently in St.Tropez, France where he is captain of the research ship Gene Machine.
