Crescent City, CA is a tiny hamlet nestled in the fog and mists between the vast redwood forest and the Pacific Ocean. When Deputy Sheriff Perd Gorlsen's daughter vanishes from a nearby National Park, neither state nor local authorities can turn up any trace of her.
At his wits' end, Perd contacts former paranormal investigator Erzsebet Eszterhas in a last-ditch effort to find his daughter. Haunted by a traumatic event which has left her severely disabled, Erzsebet has spent the past ten years living a quiet and hidden life on the other side of the Golden State, untroubled by the darkness of the outside world. Her uneasy peace shattered by Perd's call, she reluctantly returns to the land of giants and ancient mysteries, where all her troubles began.
