Holly Ringland grew up in Australia and moved to England in 2009 where she obtained a MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester two years later.

Having taught creative writing both at Lancaster University, and to women in prison, she spent five years volunteering as leader of a storytelling project called International 16, bringing together 16 students from 16 countries (including the UK) to promote global friendship through stories. She now runs creative writing and diversity workshops with primary school children in Greater Manchester, and is in the final year of her creative writing PhD with King's College London and Griffith University. The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is her first novel.

She lives in Manchester.
