Published from 1817 to 1819, Pompeiana was the joint project of archaeologist William Gell and architect John P. Gandy. Their work helped display and preserve then recent discoveries at Pompeii by means of historical discussion, analysis, and the inclusion of over 75 illustrative plates detailing various items of archaeological interest.
